Basics

How does the frisper™ work?
The frisper works by creating a small hole in the bag and then vacuuming out the air from that hole. Once the air is removed, the frisper automatically creates a heat seal ring around the hole to prevent air from re-entering. Each time you frisp, you’ll want to use a new circle on the frisper’s Vac-Snap™ bag. For more information, or to see the frisper in action, you may wish to watch a demonstration video HERE.

What can I frisp™?
You can frisp just about anything you want to keep fresher longer. The frisper was designed first & foremost for solid foods; however, it also does a great job preserving other valuable items, from silvers (no air means no tarnishing) to silks (no moisture, no pests, no problem). For use with wet foods and liquids, we recommend you follow special instructions in our usage manual.

How is the frisper™ different from conventional vacuum sealers?
The frisper marks a significant step forward in vacuum sealing, with a number of unique benefits vs. more traditional vacuum sealers. First, the frisper is significantly smaller than most others, without compromising on professional vacuum power – so you get the power you want in a device that fits easily on countertops and/or in drawers. Second, the frisper system uses its own special zipper-top bags, so you can easily access stored items without having to cut open each bag. Third, because of the zipper-top feature, you can reuse frisper’s Vac-Snap™ bags up to 20 or more times each, making it very economical as well as convenient.

How is the frisper™ different from handheld vacuum systems?
The frisper system offers professional strength vacuuming including a higher level of vacuuming than most battery-operated handheld systems can achieve. This is important because it is the removal of air that keeps foods fresher longer. Additionally, frisper’s Vac-Snap™ bags have more layers than do most of the others, thereby helping to keep out the air and odors.

Can I use any zipper-top bag with the frisper™?
The frisper works exclusively with its own Vac-Snap™ zipper top bags. Traditional zip-top bags are designed to contain food, not to create an airtight, vacuumed environment. Frisper’s Vac-Snap bags, on the other hand, are designed for vacuum sealing and long-term preservation. Among their unique features, they are specially textured on the inside to help facilitate air removal, they are multi-layered to lock out air and odors after sealing, and they are heavy-duty to handle heat sealing and repeated uses. Each of frisper’s quart-size bags can be vacuum-sealed and reused 12 or more times, and the gallon-sized bags can be vacuum-sealed and reused 20 or more times each.

Is the frisper™ compatible with other vacuum sealing systems?
Because the frisper is so innovative in how it approaches vacuum sealing, other systems and their products are not compatible with the frisper.

Operation

How do I know when the frisper™ is done vacuuming?
After you place a Vac-Snap™ bag and close the frisper’s lid, the frisper will vacuum and seal the bag automatically. And then it will stop on its own. You’ll know when it is done because the vacuuming sound will stop and the frisper’s side light will blink green. You’re then good to go – simply press the blinking button to open the frisper and remove the sealed bag.

How do I vacuum seal softer foods that can be easily crushed, like bread or potato chips?
Our initial, one-touch frisper™ model is not recommended for use on such soft items, as these items may be crushed. Please visit us again soon to see new models with added benefits and features.

What do the lights mean?
The frisper™ has one simple indicator light on its side. When the light is a steady green, it means the frisper is plugged in and ready for use. The light will turn orange when you’ve got the frisper in operation, and will switch to blinking green to tell you when it is done vacuuming.

Can I use the frisper™ in an RV, boat or car?
The frisper can be used on a 12 VDC system on any RV, boat or car with the correct plug. In this case, the frisper’s AC adaptor is not needed.

What’s included in the frisper™ Starter Kit?
The frisper Starter Kit comes with everything you need to get frisping. You get the frisper vacuum sealer, five 1-quart Vac-Snap™ bags, five 1-gallon Vac-Snap bags, an AC adaptor, and a spare parts kit.

How small is the frisper™?
We designed the frisper to fit your life… and your home. It’s just a little larger than your hand, so it should fit conveniently on your countertop or in a drawer. The small size also makes it ideal for use on boats and RVs.

How much does the frisper™ weigh?
The frisper and AC adaptor each weigh a little less than one pound.

Does the frisper™ require batteries?
The frisper needs to be plugged in to an AC Adaptor, supplied with the frisper. You cannot run the frisper on batteries.

Can I use any AC Adaptor?
We recommend that you only use the AC Adaptor supplied with the frisper™.

Where is the frisper™ made?
We designed and engineered the frisper in our offices in California. The manufacturing is now done in Asia.

Maintenance

How do I clean the frisper™?
Your frisper is designed for easy cleaning. The outside can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Inside, you may find that liquids collect in the drip-tray after vacuuming. This is normal, and the removable drip-tray is dishwasher safe for convenient cleaning. Before placing it in the dishwasher, you’ll want to first snap out the plastic insert containing the frisper’s heating ring. You might want to look in our manual for an image of the frisper, which will make this very easy step crystal clear. We also suggest you periodically give the bag puncture a washing – you can unscrew it, wash it in soap water, and then screw it back it back in place.

Is the frisper™ dishwasher safe?
The frisper’s removable drip-tray is indeed dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Before placing it in the dishwasher, you’ll want to first snap out the plastic insert containing the frisper’s heating ring. You might want to look in our manual for an image of the frisper, which will make this very easy step crystal clear.

How should I store the frisper™?
The frisper is small enough to be left on your counter. But it can also be stored anywhere you like. It is ideal to store the frisper with the lid closed but not locked down tight.

How can I make my frisper™ quieter?
We hear you. And we’re trying to make it quieter too, but for now we need to accept the fact that the noise level is inherent to its function, much like we’ve come to accept noise from our vacuum cleaners, blenders and espresso makers.

Are any parts replaceable? Where do I get spare parts?

How are the frisper™ Vac-Snap™ bags unique?
Frisper’s Vac-Snap bags are uniquely designed for vacuum sealing and long-term preservation. Among their unique features, they are specially textured on the inside to help facilitate air removal, they are multi-layered to lock out air and odors after sealing, and they are heavy-duty to handle heat sealing and repeated uses. Each of frisper’s quart-size bags can be vacuum-sealed and reused 12 or more times, and the gallon-sized bags can be vacuum-sealed and reused 20 or more times each.

How many times can I reuse the Vac-Snap™ bags?
We’ve put green circles on our bags to guide how many times you use them – we suggest 10 uses on the 1-quart bags, and 12 uses on the 1-gallon bags. However you can use them even more if you go between the circles – just make sure you don’t overlap seals, because overlapping won’t let you vacuum. Please note we like to err on the side of caution, so we advise you not reuse bags that have contained raw meat, poultry or fish.

Do the frisper™ Vac-Snap™ bags contain BPA(Bisphenol A)?
BPA (Bisphenol A) is not present in the Frisper Vac-Snap bags. BPA is commonly associated with polycarbonate, a hard clear plastic found in some reusable water bottles, CD cases, etc. Vac-Snap bags are made of polyethylene and nylon. Both are safe, do not leach BPA, and are FDA-approved for food storage and re-heating.

Do I need to use the green circles, or can I frisp™ anywhere on the bag?
We encourage people to use the green circles in order to ensure success each & every time you frisp. That said, you can go all around the perimeter of the bag (except along the zipper-top), so long as you don’t overlap seals.

Which side of the Vac-Snap™ bag should be face up during vacuuming?
So long as the bag is properly aligned with the frisper™ device, you need not worry about which side of the bag faces up – either way is just fine.

Can I cook or reheat in the Vac-Snap™ bag?
Vac-Snap bags are made of durable, multi-layered material. So do feel free to heat your food in boiling water or in the microwave. For the microwave, you may wish to open the zipper-top a little to allow steam to escape. Please note extended heating may soften the bag material such that it cannot be reused for vacuum sealing.

How do I clean the frisper™ Vac-Snap™ bags?
The best way to clean your bags is with a sponge & soapy water. Please note we like to err on the side of caution, so we advise you not reuse bags that have contained raw meat, poultry or fish.

What sizes do the bags come in?

How many bags are in each box?
The frisper™ Starter kit includes five 1-quart bags and five 1-gallon bags. We also sell boxes of replacement bags. One-quart bags come in a 20-count box. One-gallon bags come in a 14-count box.
