Oliso® TG1050 Smart Iron (blue) is rated out of 5 by 299.Rated 5 out of 5 by PollyS from Great Iron! I finally received my iron (it took a while to come) and I am very pleased with it's performance. I had seen some reviews about the iron not working properly so I was a bit leery about it, but so far, the steam works great and I really like the little feet that come out so you do't have to tip it up when not in use. I am a quilter and am very happy with the basic model. It stays hot long enough between pressing steps and heats up quickly if it has turned off automatically. I did read the caution about turning it off when not in use, before unplugging, and emptying the water before you put it away. Not doing that could cause some of the problems people have complained of. I have only had the iron for a short time, but so far I am loving it!Date published: 2019-07-19Rated 5 out of 5 by TrMomof4 from Best iron for me So this is my second Oliso iron. My husband bought one quite a few years ago. I purchased another brand that I knew was a respected brand. However, since I was used to the refill container being visible with the clear tank and the self-rising iron. I was not pleased with having to stand the iron up every time between ironing the clothing and not knowing when the being ironed. I ironed one thing with the other iron, put it back in the box and ordered my Oliso. Call me a creature of habit. I didn't want to readjust to a different iron. I ordered the TG1050 as it was the in the middle price range and I'm so happy everything is back to normal. (Sidebar, I probably would still be using the first Oliso if it hadn't been dropped a few times here and there.)Date published: 2018-08-05Rated 5 out of 5 by Sew Happy from Best Iron in all my 74 years My Yellow Oliso Iron is the best iron I have every had! It was a wanted item but I felt until the current expensive iron I had died, I could not justify buying another. Then at Christmastime I was blessed with this wonderful iron. I am a sewer (and ironer of hubby shirts). The iron does not "shut" off while I am sewing another seam. It does not dribble water because I haven't moved it in the the last 10 minutes, and I love, love not having to stand it on end, just let go of the handle. These things are huge to a sewers needs.Date published: 2018-04-28Rated 1 out of 5 by JulieE from I "thought" I would love this iron. Within 6 months of buying this iron, it stopped heating up. Customer service was great, had me mail in my iron and a few weeks later I gt one bac. Not sure it it was my old one or refurbished but to get ANY steam I have Theo pump the shot of steam button about 10 times. My $20 store iron works much better. Too expensive to not work any better than it does.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 1 out of 5 by Gigi from Customer service After 1.5 year, I called Montreal office because my iron was not stopping automatically and have been told hat there were no custome service in the Gatineau, quebec area. I would have had to send the iron in Western Canada for repair, so it went in the garbage.I am not happy with that and won't buy oliso again.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 1 out of 5 by Susie Q from Do Not Buy this Iron It was good for about 3 months. Then leaked constantly. Made a mess when ironing and my ironing board. I had originally recommended this iron to friends and several bought the iron and experienced the same results. Very expensive and very disappointed. I feel bad my friends experienced same thing.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Conchita from I LOVE THIS IRON! I've had it for about 4-5 years now and am every happy with it. I wanted the next model up in Pink, but it still isn't available in Spain, well none of them are really. I wish OLISO would make their irons available in the EU again, it's not fair. So many of us would be ready to purchase them. I have gotten so used to this iron than if for some reason I have to use another, I end up being very close to burning things because I forget the automatic feet won't lift it up. My wrist feels a lot better now when I iron because I don't have to keep doing that tedious lifting. I'm not sure how many more years it will last but if they don't become available in the EU soon, I'm afraid I will be very upset when mine eventually breaks. Come on OLISO I've been after another for years. :-)Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Kmegamom from Love this iron I absolutely love my Oliso iron. I had wanted one for a long time, I found mine at a quilt show called Road to California. I love that I can leave it flat and it lifts so I won’t burn anything, it has good weight to it and gets good and hot! The only issue I’ve had is when it’s unplugged and off if I leave water in it, it has a tendency to leak a little. If I forget to dump out the water, I’ve just folded a hand towel and leave it on that. Oh!!! And I love that it uses tap water! That’s awesome!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Diane04 from So glad I bought this iron! After much debate I bit the bullet and bought my Oliso. Perhaps a little more expensive than others, but am so glad I did. What a pleasure to use. I love a heavy iron but lifting them had become an issue, but no more. When I had a small problem with the water valve sticking customer service was right there walking me through correcting the problem and I was back up and pressing right away. Now using a regular iron and remembering to set it upright seems a strange thing to do.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 4 out of 5 by grannygirl from Great Iron After ironing the "old" way for over 60 years, this iron had a bit of a learning curve for me. It is nice not to have to lift it after every small use in quilting. I love that functionality. It raises itself on its feet whenever I release the handle. I didn't realize how often I would leave an iron on a spot without my hands on the handle (such as ironing bindings), I find this a minor inconvenience and I know I can shut off the I touch with a switch near the handle.Date published: 2018-04-29Rated 5 out of 5 by HitTheJackpot from Baby Blue Delight Oh boy! I opened my package to find my Baby Blue Delight. I looked at it for a week before using it. I’m very impressed with this iron. Ironing/pressing much easier and faster. Glides over fabric. I use water in a spray bottle instead of water in my iron. Don’t want to take the chance of forgetting to empty my iron. It does take a little time to get used to leaving it flat as opposed to setting it upright. I really like this iron. Glad I made the purchase. I’m worth it!Date published: 2020-02-24Rated 5 out of 5 by The Quilter from Definitely a 'Smart Iron'! My oliso pro TG1600 (gold) Smart Iron works flawlessly and takes the drudgery out of ironing.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by Joyce from Disappointed Iron lasted, about 6 month before the "feet" would not retract, making it useless.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 2 out of 5 by Desertquilter from A bit disappointed. I love the rising feet feature of this iron. The iron has a large sole plate which makes pressing large pieces a breeze. The auto off feature is great for me as I often leave my iron on for hours. I only used this iron without water as we have very hard water here in Arizona. My only issue with this iron was the length of time the iron continued to function. My iron lasted just over a year. I was very disappointed that this purchase did not last longer.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Sharon D from This is the best iron I've ever owned! Safety-wise, it's a no-brainer. The lift option on the iron keeps the iron in the ready, and I don't have to worry about burning my ironing board. The heat is constant and even, so it does a nice job of ironing all my cottons. It does not leak, which is a bonus. I have one in the laundry room and one at my sewing desk. I bring the iron to sewing classes and everyone loves the iron; though it does take some getting used to for those new to the Oliso.Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 3 out of 5 by Pressed for time from The yellow one I’ve already sent you my opinion so here it is again. The concept is good but... 1. It doesn’t get hot enough to remove wrinkles from cotton. 2. The sole plate drags a little. It’s not chrome so it doesn’t glide easily. 3. I like the color yellow. 4. I like that the setting dial is on the front. 5. I like that the water tank is easy to fill. Thinking of returning it though. It just doesn’t get the wrinkles out of cotton.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Rachel J from The Best "Smart" Iron! I've had this iron for several years now, and it still works perfectly. I own a sewing shop, and it has worked out great for use with all the sewing projects. It heats up very fast and has safety features that automatically turn it off if left on accidently. The feature I like the most is the automatic "I-touch" technology that lifts the iron up when released. Overall, this iron works great and I'm very happy with my purchase.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 4 out of 5 by Laverne from Like this iron It makes quilting much easier when you dont have to worry about scorching quilt iron automatically raises. I do find some times it turns itself off I put it on off and when I go to use it again it bounces up and doen several times the indicator turns red and I have to unplug and let sit for a minute before reusing but this happens when I am trying to sew something and iron only. I do not use of for clothing only my quilts.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Maria from Great Iron! It took me a while to get used to not having to lift my iron up every time I made an adjustment, but after I got used to it, I LOVE it!!! It also heats up quickly. One other thing I love that was different on my other iron is the settings dial. It is easy to see and turn. My other iron had the dial in an inconvenient spot that was not easy to see what setting you were on. All in all, I give this iron a rating of a 10!Date published: 2018-11-13Rated 5 out of 5 by imac from This is a great iron! I was so tired of buying rather expensive irons (mostly Rowentas) that would leak water after a relatively short time. I was introduced to Oliso by an employee in Bed,Bath and Beyond whose wife was very pleased with hers. I had never heard of this brand. I ordered one on line, and have been very happy that I did. It has performed so well for me. I am sold on this quality product. I love the itouch feature!Date published: 2018-05-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Charlee from Real improvement to ironing Quilting requires pressing, iron is a “four letter word” to be avoided whenever possible. I really want to avoid lifting a heavy iron with fibromyalgia . But with the automatic feet , I just have to touch hand area and iron drops to fabric. There is still pushing and a little lifting, but no more having to lift it to set on end with every pause so fabric doesn’t get burned! Make the job less painful.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Sunny J from I will NEVER go back to a traditional iron. I can not believe I look forward to ironing. I now store all of my linens and napkins ironed rather than just clean and folded. That says volumes if you knew me! I even look for things to iron of my husbands. Crazy!!! Being a proficient tailor, heirloom seamstress and embroidery fanatic, this is the iron I wish I had bought years ago. I like the fact that it does not recommend special water.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Shepherd42 from Amazing results. Night & day difference Loving my new Oliso. Suffered through years and years of punishment - using my old-fashion irons. The ease of using my new Oliso (almost a one-touch mechanism) and the powerful steam are making an impactful difference. Then add on the thoughtful touches, like the easy open / fill spout on the iron, the comfortable handle, and safety features, it’s a real winner. A bargain, in my mind.Date published: 2019-10-03Rated 5 out of 5 by Kimmc from It lives up to the hype. I wasn’t going to buy the Oliso iron when I first heard about it because it was expensive and I already had an adequate iron. But when that one died I decided to see what all the hype was about. It doesn’t disappoint. It is easy on the wrist, doesn’t have “incontinence issues” and is safer to use the ordinary irons. Even my 4 year-old grandson is impressed when he watches me use it.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Satisfied Homemaker from Wish I had this iron years ago! Love the ease of ironing with this iron & I iron A LOT! My clothes are crisp & the large water tank allows me to iron more items between refills of the tank. LOVE the feature allowing the iron to rest on the feet & giving it a much more stable base. The iron my Oliso replaced was damaged when someone bumped my ironing board & the old iron fell in the floor & the water tank cracked.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Chrys from Incredible invention! One of my pet peeves when piecing a quilt was having to wait for the iron to reheat after chain piecing. This iron stays hot longer, and heats up quicker than other irons I had. It really feels like everything goes faster because of the legs. The only problem I have is when I'm upstairs ironing clothes with a regular iron, I have to keep reminding myself to upend the iron!Date published: 2018-04-21Rated 2 out of 5 by Karen from Love it until it just died on me - 2 yrs old Paid a lot of money for it. Absolutely loved it. Then it died 2 yrs later. Called Oliso, they offered me a new iron at a 10% discount - off the new regular price of $150+. Wouldn't even discuss repairing it. Said no repair possible. Just wanted me to shell out another $150+ for a new one. Salesman was relentless. I said NO, it should have lasted longer than 2 years!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Juju1280 from Best Iron I have had. My Oliso smart iron makes ironing easier. It helps prevent scorching or worse by lifting away from fabric if I get sidetracked. It has been great for sewing and quilting projects..so no more switching irons when switching projects. Because it is so lite and the auto lift makes it is easier to use than standard irons which is beneficial since I have rheumatoid arthritis.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Karen from I love this iron! At first, I thought the itouch feature was a gimmick, but now I love it. It saves time and when sewing or quilting I am able to be more accurate. It also helps with arm fatigue. I've come to love the little noise it makes and would buy it again. I was also worried about the safety feature of turning itself off (I didn't want it), but it does warm up again pretty fast.Date published: 2018-04-21Rated 4 out of 5 by Carole53 from Nice iron I like my Oliso iron for the frequent and quick pressing I do when I quilt. However, the point at the tip of the iron does not allow some intricate ironing that needs to be done on some clothing. Also, they stand behind their warranty very nicely , my first iron died shortly after purchasing it BUT the cost of returning the iron for service is very expensive indeed.Date published: 2018-04-19

Does this have an on/off switch, or do you have to unplug and plug it in to turn it off and on? My plug is inconveniently located.Hello LIsa, Thanks for asking this question please note our TG models do not have on/off switch, when you are not using the iron we recommend to turn off the steam selector and fabric selector to off position, also it would be great habit to unplug the iron from the wall outlet as this will help the iron for any kind of power fluctuation or electrical surge. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance on this on firstname.lastname@example.org Please note the on and off switch on our irons are to enable and disable the I touch and it has nothing to do with cutting the power from the iron. Thanks KevinDate published: 2019-10-25
I have one of these iron and I would like to know about all fabric types you can use it on. The book dosen't say anything about that. Otherwise it can be used on some silk, wool, cotton and some synthetics.
