Oliso® Pro™ TG1600 Smart Iron (yellow) is rated out of 5 by 1367.Rated 1 out of 5 by geguinn from Only worked for16 months When I purchased this iron in November of 2014 I had high hopes. I am a quilter and do use an iron almost daily. For what I had to pay for this iron, I would certainly expect to get more than 16 months use from it. One day I plugged it in to work and it just would not get hot. Thankfully I had not discarded my old Rowenta when I purchased the Oliso, I had used my Rowenta for 5 years before getting this iron and I am still using it today. So I would say this iron is way overpriced and they need to work on making it last longer. Maybe this was just a fluke. Oliso would have to give me another to try out because I would not spend my money on another one.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by CCCCCC from really bad experience, twice! I first bought this iron at the Road to California show and liked it until something melted inside and it began smoking and dripping hot plastic from the steam holes onto the ironing board and the floor. I returned that one and the replacement iron spewed hot steamy water all over quilt pieces I was trying to press (the steam feature was not on). Returned THAT one and requested a refund but was told it had been too long since purchase so they sent me ANOTHER iron which I absolutely did not want, did not trust, and eventually gave it (unopened!) to a quilting group who was willing to give it a chance.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 1 out of 5 by 7 pups4geb from Went through two, neither held up I was given the first iron as a mothers day gift from my family. They all chipped in because the cost was high. I loved the pop down foot feature. It eliminated the worry of the iron tipping over. Unfortunately, the first one had to be returned because the foot function stopped working. I was sent a replacement for no charge. It worked well for about a year and stopped heating. Since it was beyond the warranty period, the cost to have it repaired was $70. Instead of repairing and investing more money on top of the $200+ my family paid; I bought a $20 iron, it's reliable and works quite well.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 4 out of 5 by Chickie from I love this iron. I’v owned many Iron through my quilting years. This is my favorite. Not having to sit it up whenever I need to stop ironing for a moment is such a convenience. I can even just take my hand off the handle without moving it off my fabric. I’ve had 2 of them, not because the first broke, but because I bought the one for quilting that has the long cord and doesn’t shut off for 30 minutes so I can sew & press without having to wait for it to reheat every time. I gave my first one to my daughter. We both love them. The only thing that I wish was different is that I’m not able to completely empty the water from the reservoir when I’m finished using it.Date published: 2018-04-20Rated 3 out of 5 by Deborah171 from Disappointment I really wanted to like this iron. It is my second one. I had it in yellow and less than a year later, it leaked. Oliso replaced it and allowed me to trade it in for pink which was awesome. I treat my irons with respect but use them frequently as I'm a quilter. The cover plate turns brown and is difficult to clean. I use bottled water as recommended and yet, it just is a disappointment. Sometimes it doesn't get hot and othertimes it clearly is too hot. Sometimes it leaks, and sometimes it doesn't. I really love the pink iron and really love the heat when it works right......but it doesn't work right!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by tanya from the best iron ever, i will never go without again First...i love the fact it has an extra long cord , also it heats up extra fast. i really love the i-touch feature its very convenient and you can also choose to turn off this i-touch feature , i also think when buying an expensive iron from Quilters stand point the tip of the iron is very important as well , i love the small tip of this iron it glides perfectly on my small Quilting seams , the last thing is the durability of this iron, i had it for 3 years now, and i have never had a hitch with it !!! helpful info. i do not ,will not use this iron for any heat n bond or any sticky craft work etc... , i have a less expensive iron for thatDate published: 2018-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by Laura from Very Poor First, I will start by saying you are not going to like this review. I purchased your iron at a quilt show. Unfortunately, they had none available to take, and promised to send them as soon as manufactured. The only good thing is that it did come in a few weeks as promised. The lift system on the iron stopped working within a month. Since it was under warranty you did send a new one. Unfortunately, the irons heating element stopped working after a year, which meant it was no longer under warranty. I was told I could send it back (my expense) and you would fix it (at my expense). Much cheaper to buy a new iron. Would not recommend to anyone. One star is too high a rating.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 5 out of 5 by Nancy from I really like the oliso iron. I love everything about my Oliso iron except all the water never comes out. Otherwise it's great!Date published: 2019-04-16

My iron smells like burnt carmel once it heats up. What can I do about this?Though it could be several simple to fix issues (a bit of fusible stuck on the soleplate for instance), the best answer is to call our customer service at 1-800-899-5157 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org. After asking you a few more questions, they should be able to get to the bottom of it!Date published: 2019-03-27

After reading your reviews, Have you rewritten the warranty on specifically the TG1600. I was a satisfied Oliso owner and had experienced the same frustrations of those that wrote reviews, i.e. not staying hot enough and spitting on my quilts. We can relate and understand your frustration when an expensive electrical product does not last as long as you expected. But with that said, it's an electrical appliance and it's going to give out at some point depending on the usage. Since Nov 2018 we have been working with our engineers to resolve many of the common issues that make an iron burn out. We are improving parts and changing the material of those parts so they last a lot longer under extreme use. We will also be launching a new page on the oliso website to explain the "do's and don'ts" of ironing because we have notice there are a lot of misunderstanding out there in the ironing world. For example, people have been told for years to put distilled water in their irons when in fact distilled water is the worst type of water you can use. The reason is there are no minerals in distilled water so the distilled water will pull minerals from the rubber seals causing the iron to leak. Another example is, if you press the steam button 10 times in a row we do not care if you have a $3000 iron the iron will leak. The reason is that you are flooding the soleplate of the iron with cold water causing the plate to cool down and not turn the water into steam and the water has to go somewhere. We are updating our warranties so any of the oliso "PRO" products will come with a three year warranty. Also we have lowered our repair fee from $69.99 to $29.99. We hope we were able to answer your questions and concerns about buying another oliso iron. Thank youDate published: 2019-02-18
Hi! I have the Oslio Pro. I accidentally ironed iron-on interfacing on the sticky side. I got some off by ironing over a towel but there is still some there and it turned brown from using it again. What should I use to clean it?We actually have a few tricks that might work. The first one is get the iron hot. Then cut a brown paper bag so it can lay flat. Then carefully place the iron on the paper bag and move the iron back and forth, this should help remove the "gunk". If this does not work please go to a Joann Fabric or Bed Bath store and ask them for soleplate cleaner and follow those instructions. We hope one of these tricks work.
