Oliso® Pro™ TG1600 Smart Iron (yellow) is rated out of 5 by 1433.Rated 5 out of 5 by Quilting grammy from I really love this iron. I love the feature of regulating the amount of steam you want -- low, medium, and high. I like the shot of steam feature. AND of course I love the pop up system to rest the iron above the ironing board!! I love the red-green light system to let me know whether the iron is (1) plugged in but OFF -- STEADY RED LIGHT (2) HEATING UP -- BLINKING GREEN LIGHT (3) READY TO USE -- STEADY GREEN LIGHT THIS IRON TURNS ITSELF OFF after 30 minutes. By just gripping the touch-sensitive handle you can turn it on again. It is a wonderful addition to my sewing/quilting work. Thank you for your goal of a smarter iron!!!!Date published: 2018-04-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Patty from Great iron! The Oliso Smart iron surprised me. It does a great job of ironing my fabrics flat & crisp without throwing off tons of steam in my face, even when using the burst steaming. The I-touch feature that extends & retracts the “legs” of the iron takes some getting used to, as it is extremely sensitive, but can always be disabled by turning a switch to off, a feature-plus. Love the pink color; looks so much better than the mustard yellow color, which JoAnn Fabrics had & looked very dirty. I purchased my smart iron directly from Oliso, as the mark up at JoAnn’s was ridiculously high. I also purchased the Oliso travel iron & am looking forward to trying it out.Date published: 2019-08-09Rated 1 out of 5 by Sew Stephanie from On my 3rd replacement iron I really wanted to love this iron BUT unfortunately I have had no luck. Iron #1 - must have been dropped in shipping and was leaking (Oct 2017) Iron #2 - started leaking rust colored water on my fabric (Feb 2018) Iron #3 - after 2 weeks showing rust at the front foot (feb 2018) #Iron #4 - Oliso refused to refund my money so I think I will try and return this to a local retail store Buyer beware - you can only get your $$ back if you return it in 30 days. After that they will just send you a replacement. I used regular tap water in my irons and always emptied the reservoir at the end of each session. I also NEVER used starch which they say can cause the rust. I make quilts and just use the iron to press open seams and steam press fabric after washing. They did extend my warranty through April 2019. As of now I have not opened the 4th iron they sent. The iron gets really hot and does a great job I just cannot have rust transferred to my fabric/quilt top.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 4 out of 5 by Nancy from I'm a Pro and I LOVE my Pro Oliso!! When I first saw this iron it knew it was something special and it has never failed to live up to my expectations. The 12 foot cord gives me the freedom to reach my whole studio, the flat face plate makes pressing all types of materials and on all techniques a dream. When pressing fine fabrics I am never worried about the steam holes showing after I press and when pressing fusible applique designs on quilts I know the whole applique is pressed, no "dimples" remain. The steam this machine delivers is all I need to press out the most stubborn wrinkles and when on dry, I can press a quilt block that is sprayed with sizing dry within no time what so ever - it helps me work smarter, not harder. And those legs!! I love those legs!! when teaching it is always the first things that catches a students attention which starts the conversation as to all the other wonderful features of this machine. Thank you Oliso for making an iron that makes me a better artist :)Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Mimi from Ironman I refer to this iron as my current husband! This is a very successful partnership that will probably last for years and years (yes, I have a history). We work together, I take good care of my Ironman and he makes housework a pleasure. Quilting is his hobby and he warms up to it every day, after all, he is very colorful, but colorblind. However he is multitalented and adjusts to all colors and textures. He did come with directions and I love him so much that I do everything he suggests. We are very happy together, forever I hope! Thank you for introducing us. Technically incompetent to send photo.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Phyllly from Finally, an iron that is ready to go when I am! Love my Olisa Quilter’s iron. It stays hot for a full thirty minutes without shutting off. I usually will use it within 30 minutes, so it is always hot. Heats up super fast when you turn it on. I love not having to lift it up and down. It is so much easier on the arthritis in my wrists. My old iron would shut off while I was pressing interfacing to my fabric because I had not lifted the iron up in a certain time frame. The lifting it to an upright position so it would not shut off would make my wrists ache so badly that I would stop sewing for the day. Be sure you get the Quilter’s Iron. It is the butterscotch or the full size pink version. Other versions will shut off after 8 minutes just like other brands.Date published: 2019-10-06Rated 1 out of 5 by Grandma46 from Disappointed I really loved using this iron. It is everything it is advertised as being. However, my iron broke after 2 years and I had to throw it away. It wasn’t damaged or misused— it just stopped “lowering.” The best the company offered was free shipping and a $100 repair charge. I felt it should have been replaced for free since irons should last for years. At least there should have been some prorated refund. Very disappointing.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 1 out of 5 by JP ( Joan Ploetz) from Very Disappointing I have been through 2 of these irons over a 3.5 year period. I love the concept and they start out great but something in the computer system goes and they don't heat up or raise up. After the 2nd one I returned it to where I purchased and suggested they stop selling them and they can return it back to you for research. I am president of a Quilt guild and bragged about the iron and now I'm not even using one since I have spent nearly $300. on this iron only to have it fail twice on me. I believe once is understandable and mailed the first to you with receipt and after serveral months you sent me a replacement. I was impressed, however it didn't last as long as the first one. When you get all the bugs out let me know as I love the concept but feel it isn't ready for stores yet.Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 1 out of 5 by Lana from threw it in the trash. literally this iron was nothing but trouble. leaked from day one. called help line, for troubleshooting. did everything from not filling the tank, to plugging directly into outlet as opposed to surge protector. It stopped raising itself, turned that feature off. stopped using water. at this point it was just a heavy iron. it stopped heating altogether, and it went in the trash can.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 2 out of 5 by littlett from I've been very disappointed with this iron. I bought this iron mainly because I am a sewer and make quilts. I wanted an iron that got hot enough, with a larger water reservoir to suit this purpose. Upon seeing this iron for sale at my local fabric store, I assumed that it was an excellent product for that purpose. First, it doesn't get hot enough, and after having it for less than a year, it has started flashing red and not heating up upon plugging, unless I hold it vertically and bang it on the ironing board first - then it will start to heat up and turn green. Very disappointing. I have now had it for close to three years I think. I still use it for clothing but I am annoyed with it most of the time.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Minadeoro from I love the iron! I love this iron with the exception that every now and then it will leave white specks on my clothes or sewing material. I mostly love this iron because I have a tendency to take my hand off the iron and leave it on the ironing board while I move the material to the next ironing section. The only thing I wish they would change is the spout/location of where you add/drain the water from the iron. I have burned my hand a couple of times when draining the water after having the iron on all day. I have only had it for a year but I hope it's quality lasts me for years to come. As a new quilter, I use it just about every day .Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by zetta54 from I just love my iron with the iTouch feature I received my Oliso iron as a Christmas gift, and absolutely love my iron, so easy to use and reliable. One note, the scorch guards may need cleaning to keep them working properly, especially if you need to use iron cleaner to clean gunk from fusible products off the surface. Some lint may accumulate around the back scorch guard, which can be blown out. I have used my iron for about 8 years, and the cleaning brought it back into perfect working order. Maintenance is wise to do, just like for other mechanical products. If you need to call customer service, they are helpful and professional, very nice to work with.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 4 out of 5 by twograsshuts from Cool Iron The self raising feature on this iron is terrific... no scorches. It has a nice long cord. Good steam. The nice pointy tip is great for small areas. I really also like the side fill for the water reservoir. The weight of the iron is a little heavier than others but that helps in the pressing. My only negative on it is that it doesn't get as hot as I would like. I do quite a bit of pressing on quilt blocks and would love a higher heat output. I've had mine for about 4 years so when it's time to replace it, I'll look for the same self raising feature and hopefully the company will have a model with higher heat output.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 3 out of 5 by Patti from Oliso Pro TG1600 Smart Iron This iron seemed like the perfect solution to my shoulder problem! I sew, sew, sew most everyday, and had seen this iron used on Missouri Star Quilt Company's tutorials. I love the fact that it doesn't have to be set upright after every swipe of the iron! I also really love the fact that it stays hot for thirty minutes before turning off. Absolutely necessary for a quilter! My only problem, and it's kind of a big one, is that the steam button quit working after only a few months. Darn it! I still use the iron everyday, but can no longer get the burst of steam.Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 2 out of 5 by MBT64 from Disappointment when i pay $50.00 for an iron, i hope it lasts more than 2 years. When i pay $180.00 for an iron that is retail of $200.00 i EXPECT it to last a long, long time. This was not the case with this iron. Within a year and 1/2 it wasn't working correctly. I called and it would have cost more another $80 or so to get a new one. Why would i do that when i paid an enormous amount to begin with. So now i use this iron that only heats up. It is does not steam, the "I" part doesn't work and it won't shut off. This purchase was a huge disappointment to me to say the least.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 4 out of 5 by Peggy from It is a great iron! I have been ironing for years....and I have had several olisos and have given for gifts. There is one serious problem.....they ALL have a serious leaking problem....the prices vary so much....they are too expensive for an iron. I have a very old black and decker....it's steam qualities are outstanding also....it is light....it just is not available anymore. I have been in the drycleaning business for years....and I have had to replace the oliso and send it back to be repaired....that I never know when it will need to be replaced....so I don't have one nowl Of course the stand up is a super feature.Date published: 2018-05-30Rated 5 out of 5 by Linda from Best Iron Amoung All Irons Out There I have found this model to be the best iron I have bought. I love the extra long cord and the auto turn off is set at 30 minutes. I do wish it had more holes in the plate for steam and as it has aged, I am having trouble with sputtering of water. But all the irons seem to do that. The Oliso customer service has been A1. I wish they would come out with a steam station like Rowenta at a better price point. I did do the pre-order for the travel iron that is coming out, at the Int'l Quilt Festival last November. I am waiting to hear when they will mail that out. I hope it is as hot as the regular size iron.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Sugar Sandwich Design Stu from Love Love Love ❤️ Best iron ever I use this iron in my sewing business and it is nothing short of amazing. Intuitive and responsive, it will raise and lower as needed and eliminates the need for wrist action to lay down to iron or stand up to rest in heel. Not only is it a great time saver once you have retrained yourself away from conventional iron motion, it’s even distribution of heat and flow of steam will make your pressing impressive. It will give a professional finish to your sewing projects, stands up to prolonged use through sewing marathons, and has benefit of large water reservoir and extra long swivel cord. Five stars all the way!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Mayday1049 from Fabulous Iron! On it’s “maiden voyage” I used my TG1600 on some very wrinkled clothing (that had been crammed in a suitcase when slightly damp) in variety of fabrics from silk to linen—all with great results. I love the variable levels of steam, the ease of filling the water reservoir, and of course the itouch feature! By the end of ironing the very first garment I wasn’t trying to set the iron on it’s heel and I’m looking forward to using it on yardage, sheets, and for quilting. The weight of the iron is greater than others I’ve used which helps to get those wrinkles out with fewer passes. I’m loving this new appliance!Date published: 2018-07-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Leee from Such a treat to use good tools! This baby heats up super fast! I don't use the steam option anymore because we moved and are on well water that is full of iron and I don't I want the iron in my water to wreck my iron LOL! Before we moved and I was living in town and could use the steam option it worked like a charm. I love the fact that it stays hot for a while because I'm a quilter and being back and forth between pressing and piecing it's nice to not have to wait for it to heat up again. I'm also a bit of a nerd and have a thing for robots, so I think the little "zip" noise it makes when it stands up is the cutest darn thing ever!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Drew from A man that loves Oliso I thought my wife was crazy when she bought her first Oliso Pro. They are not cheap! She has other irons but they do not work consistently. She quilts up a storm and needed an iron that not only works but makes it easier to iron. She loves her iron. She loves the little legs that raise the iron off of the board. Then she bought her second Oliso Pro so she could have one both upstairs in the laundry and downstairs in her studio. Why do I love the Oliso Pro. I love it because I like ironing my shirts! She can quilt all that she wants to and I will continue ironing my shirts because they look great!Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by MMM3 from Now I don't mind ironing with my Oliso I saw this iron demonstrated at a quilt show and bought one. I don't actually see a lot of quilts but I had to iron clothes a lot. The Oliso Pro iron is the best tool for all types out ironing. I like that it can stay horizontal and the little feet raise it up off the ironing surface so it doesn't scorch the ironing board. It heats up very quickly which is another plus. Very good steam settings, or no steam if you need to dry iron. I love the rotating cord connection, so I can move the cord to one side or another to get it out of the way while I iron. The pro version iron also remains on for 30 minutes before turning itself off due too inactivity, which is handy when I'm sewing.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by quilter from Disappointed in quality of this iron. I have gone through two Oliso (yellow) irons. The first one was defective, water leaking/spotting, and the second one, also yellow, stopped going down and would not heat up. Had that one for 14 months. I was fortunate that the first one was replaced through the quilt shop where I purchased. There were others, probably from the same shipment, that had similar issues. However, it did take one year to replace through her distributor. And Oliso irons in Canada are much more expensive than in the states. I would have had to pay to have it fixed and shipping charges were very expensive. I do like some of the features this iron has, I used it for quilting, used a different brand for my regular ironing. My less expensive irons have lasted a lot longer. This iron is great for quilting but needs to go back to the drawing board.Date published: 2018-08-16Rated 3 out of 5 by little red from I thought I would love this iron This is my second Oliso iron. The first one leaked from the start and quit working soon after I bought it. (It would not lift). You replaced it. The one I currently have was good. But........ it now leaks water and discolors fabric. I have gone back to my old steam iron. I really liked the features of the lift when hands are off. If it worked great I would recommend the purchase to my quilting friends. I purchased this at the Houston National Quilt Market from an Oliso vender. I had read reviews and was looking forward to this product. With the price of this iron, I expected a better product.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by Judy_03 from Love This iron I like this iron so well that this is the second purchase of the same iron, after dropping the original once too often. I am a quilter and the iron is used constantly, so it takes a beating. It is fairly heavy so presses really well. The auto turn off is timed well, as I use the iron intermittently when sewing and it doesn't turn off too quickly. It has a really long cord that rotates at the base, so no problems there. I especially like the feet that raise the iron up when you aren't holding the iron. You can leave it sitting flat and not worry about scorching. In that flat position, it does take up more room, but it is more stable and less likely to fall, possibly hitting a pet or burning me.Date published: 2018-04-25Rated 1 out of 5 by no nickname from Not worth the money I had my iron for a few months and had to send it in because it malfunctioned and would not always stand up after ironing. It seemed like it became a potential fire hazard. Also after I sent it in it was several months before I got it back and again never worked quite right.Date published: 2018-04-26Rated 5 out of 5 by Linda from Perfect I love my Oliso Pro TG1600 in PINK. I love the color pink and when I saw this iron I knew it was for me. I recently got back into sewing clothes for myself and needed to upgrade my iron. ( My old iron was held together with duck tape after taking a tumble off the ironing board, yes, I know, sounds like a fire hazard!) It only took one day of sewing to get used to just putting the iron down. I love the little noise it makes when it "raises" up. The steam feature really helps in pressing. Love this iron.Date published: 2019-11-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Susanj from I really do love this iron This is my second Oliso. I loved the first one but it started leaking and I was upset because of the price and I’d only had a couple of years. I loved the lift mechanism and decided to try again but did my homework. I was using Tap water but Austin water is very hard so I think that contributed to the problem with the first iron. After researching I decided to use filter water and so far no problem and it doesn’t “spit” like some irons. The only problem I’m having right now is buildup on the sole plate and finding an easy way to clean. I use start and fusible and no matter how careful I get a buildup. My friends when they see it are just amazed by the touch lift feature - awesome for quilters.Date published: 2018-04-19Rated 5 out of 5 by pmr6002 from Wonderful iron, love it! The Oliso Pro TG1600 iron makes ironing faster and easier. It is helpful when I have a large piece of fabric that fills up my ironing board, I can leave the iron sitting on the fabric without worrying about marking or scorching. It's great when I have detail ironing too, I have never really noticed how often I sit an iron up to detail a shirt until now that I don't have to do it anymore, what a relief to my arthritic wrists. And, every iron I have owned spits and leaks when I sit it up, but not this one, no unwanted steam or drips at all. Love the long cord too. Overall, it's a great iron! I am very pleased to own it. If I could change one thing it would be the sound the mechanism makes when it moves up and down. I wish it were silent, but that's not a big deal at all.Date published: 2019-07-02Rated 4 out of 5 by KateW from Works well I'm a quilter so there is A LOT of pressing!!! I use it daily. Once I got use to NOT standing it up, I love it especially when pressing yardage that I don't want to fold. Filling it is easy. I read the book first so I knew not to use distilled water. I also like that the light turns colors from heating up (orange) to green when ready. It holds a great deal of water. Occasionally when I go from pressing to stopping and back to pressing too quickly it does catch the fabric between the bottom of the plate and the leg plate. One thing I would love changed is the weight. If that can't be changed, maybe a smaller version could be developed. I bought mine at JoAnns because my local quilt shop uses them.Date published: 2018-04-19
